UFC star Conor McGregor was last seen in fight action last month when he was submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fourth round. The bout was his first appearance inside the Octagon since November 2016 when he stopped Eddie Alvarez in Round 2.
In between these bouts “The Notorious” went through the ropes facing off Floyd Mayweather in August 2017. “Money” won the fight scoring the tenth-round TKO.
In September it was reported that McGregor signed a new multi fight-deal with UFC. Shortly after the fight against Khabib, he called for a rematch as well as shared his thoughts on the outcome with a post on Instagram.
“The Notorious” is currently suspended after a post-fight incident at UFC 229. He is scheduled for a hearing by the NSAC (Nevada Athletic Commission).
So what will be the next move of the first man, who held UFC titles in two different weight classes simultaneously?
Conor McGregor WWE appearance teased, Donald Cerrone UFC fight
There is a number of recent posts suggesting that Conor McGregor will make his appearance at WrestleMania 35 scheduled for 2019 in New York. WWE star Becky Lynch “continues to tease” the happening on Twitter, writes Ryan Droste of Comicbook.
Meanwhile, UFC welterweight Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is reportedly ready to fight Conor McGregor. The latter “only has to sign [the contract] to make the fight,” Tom Sheen of The Sun reports, quoting former mixed martial artist Brendan Schaub of the “Below the Belt” podcast.
As a pure speculation, here is an opinion. To date, neither McGregor’s participation in WWE nor Cerrone fight in the UFC have been formally confirmed.
However, as they say “There’s no smoke without fire”. Therefore I think Conor McGregor will likely appear at WrestleMania 35.
As we see, the “storytelling” is already happening. This also slightly reminds me Ronda Rousey’s transition to WWE.
Moreover, there is a need of Plan B if the things go south inside the Octagon. Whether it will be a fight against Cerrone or someone else, I believe McGregor will fight again soon.
The feeling of winning is a very addictive. He will likely give it another shot striving to get on top.
What in fact will happen, we just have to wait and see. And yet, there is always Plan B.
